Poco pi\u00f9 che adolescente, ma gi\u00e0 presago del suo destino, annot\u00f2 nel diario: \u00ab\u00c8 terribile avere un fratello maggiore pi\u00f9 intelligente, raramente mi viene riconosciuta un po\u2019 di originalit\u00e0\u00bb. Stannie, come lo chiamavano i familiari, non sarebbe mai riuscito, infatti, a liberarsi dal peso di essere il fratello di James, tra l\u2019altro quello a lui pi\u00f9 vicino, anzi \u00abl\u2019unico fratello in grado di capirmi\u00bb.<br \/>\nPer quasi tutta la sua vita Stanislaus lo ha ascoltato, difeso e sostenuto moralmente e finanziariamente, trattando spesso anche con i suoi creditori. Sarebbe sbagliato licenziarlo con la stessa facilit\u00e0 di James (\u00abUn fratello si dimentica facilmente quanto un ombrello\u00bb). Questo volume presenta la prima traduzione italiana dello scritto dedicato all\u2019incontro tra Italo Svevo e James Joyce, che Stanislaus concluse solo poche settimane prima di morire, il 16 giugno (Bloomsday) 1955. Nel libro inoltre si analizza compiutamente la personalit\u00e0 di Stanislaus.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>This second edition is published thirty years after the first with a beautiful double cover, both in English and in Italian, created by Martina Campagnolo.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>John and Mary Jane Joyce\u2019s second male child, Stanislaus Joyce, was born in Dublin on December 17, 1884. He was still very young when he premonitorily wrote in his diary \u00abIt is terrible to have a cleverer elder brother, I get small credit for originality\u00bb. Stannie, as he was called in the family, would have never been able to rid himself of the burden of being James\u2019s brother, even though the only one \u00abcapable of understanding\u00bb him. Almost all lifelong Stanislaus listened to him, defended him and supported him, both morally and economically, even dealing with his creditors. It would be wrong to forget him as easily as James did (\u00abA brother is as easily forgotten as an umbrella\u00bb). This book includes the first Italian translation of the conference on the meeting of Italo Svevo and James Joyce, which Stanislaus held in Trieste only a few weeks before his death on June 16 (Bloomsday), 1955.
